Saudi Arabia

In March 2003, for the first time BGP won a (4+1)-year 2D seismic data acquisition project S47 from Aramco in Saudi Arabia. Since then, BGP's business there has been rapidly booming. We have provided services for such companies as Aramco, SRAK, ENIREPSA, and Sinopec in the nine onshore, transition zone, and offshore projects. Most of the projects will take several years to complete. The clients have been very satisfied with the quality of our seismic data.

Crew 8619 --"Ten Million Man-Hours without an LTI"

In the three and a half years since the commencement of the S51 seismic survey in December 2005, more than twenty-seven thousand square kilometers of data have been acquired. This is BGP's first project in Saudi, as well as the largest one BGP has undertaken overseas.

On the 4th of March, Saudi Crew 8619 reached Ten Million Man-Hours without an LTI on contract S51. Achieving this record in a challenging and difficult working environment is outstanding. It's a milestone success for both BGP and Saudi Aramco after 41 months of 24-hour non-stop work.

Safety has always been given the highest priority by crew 8619 during the operation. Stop cards and Task Risk Identification Cards (TRIC) were introduced. Daily morning meetings were conducted with frequent visits from key members of the crew. The milestone has proved the effectiveness of the operation's safety efforts.

The Party Chief of Crew 8619 said, "With the effort of all crew members we will maintain the zero-LTI record through the end of the current survey."

Project SRAK

Located in a desert hinterland in Saudi Arabia, the project commenced on November 1st, 2005. According to the provisions of the contract, BGP carried out a 2D seismic program of 2500 km. To ensure successful production, Crew 8615 conducted a detailed scouting and a hazard and risk assessment, and finally made a practical operation plan.

The project was successfully completed on November 11th, 2006, with an HSE record of 1,215,000 man-hours without an LTI. The client awarded the Crew a plaque to recognize its good performance and commended it for the excellent results achieved in such a challenging environment.
