| Our Role in Society |

BGP takes seriously the obligation to contribute to
the societies in the countries and regions it operates.
BGP has provided a great deal of technology transfer
to the local oil companies by training local employees
and by hiring as many local personnel as possible. In
addition, BGP has made significant contributions to
medical and educational organizations.

An opening ceremony was held on Oct. 22, 2003
to celebrate the establishment of Cooley's Anaemia
Research Center in Mashhad, Iran. Cooley's Anaemia,
also known as Mediterranean Anaemia, is found
mainly in Mediterranean regions such as Turkey,
Iran, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Burma & Thailand.
It is usually severe, occurs in infancy and leads
to early death around age 20. Great importance
has been attached to this disease by Iran's medical
circle.

Because of a shortage of funds, some key facilities
can not be fully equipped. Knowing this situation, BGP
Iran Kish, the affiliate of BGP, donated two blood treatment
units to the center. They hope the donation can help
the center to serve society and bring hope to the affected
children.
BGP believes that it can not achieve success without
the support of the local society. It is its obligation
to respond to public needs. BGP will continue to contribute
to the societies in which it works.
