At the start of the Chinese New Year, BGP's first deep water node project commenced in the Gulf of Guinea. In this project, BGP designedly retrofit a high-end source vessel, BGP Dragon, in 2023.

The vessel is superior to conventional seismic source vessels due to its physical size, allowing space for a helideck to provide helicopter crew changes and address MEDEVAC emergencies. With a DP2 system, BGP Dragon can operate safely in congested oil fields; Four air compressors are installed, providing capacity of up to 7000 cubic inches per minute. A maximum of 10 air gun sub-arrays can be configured. Each sub-array has 7 lifting points and is equipped with depth, pressure and near-field wavelet sensors to better monitor the working state of the source; The technology of source steering on 4D projects and wide source separation models onboard can achieve the highest standards of international dominant oil companies.
