BGP has commenced acquisition of a 3D seismic survey covering 2,022 square kilometers offshore Benin. The seismic data is being acquired by the BGP Prospector, with a 10-streamer-configuration.

On basis of the 3D data, current subsurface knowledge will be built up and improved imaging of deep Cretaceous and Tertiary strata will be provided. Interpretation of this data will lead to better delineation of oil and gas prospects over the acreage surveyed as well as a greater understanding of adjacent areas.

Data processing will be performed by TGS using its proprietary seismic multiple elimination processing technology, TAMETM.

BGP Prospector is capable of towing 12x8000m streamer length and she is outfitted with state-of-the-art seismic equipment such as ION DigiStreamer recording instrument, the energy source system with Sercel GII Gun, the Concept navigation system (ION) with Orca v.v1.7.1., the on-board processing system with hardware of 96 CPU (48 nodes) and software of ProMAX R5000 Landmark.
