BGP announces that seismic acquisition for the Suriname Southern Shallow Water Phase I multi-client project (2,100 sq. km) was successfully completed on January 10, 2026, by BGP Prospector.

Ahead of mobilization, the project team executed detailed reconnaissance and risk assessments covering shallow-water bathymetry, seabed terrain, known wreck locations, and fishing activity. Based on these findings, the crew implemented a flexible acquisition program designed to protect safety and maintain operational efficiency in a complex nearshore environment.

Throughout acquisition, the crew maintained close coordination with local fisheries and the Coast Guard, supported by real-time information sharing, routine coordination meetings, and established contingency protocols. This collaborative approach helped minimize disruption risks and supported steady progress against the planned schedule.

The newly acquired seismic data will provide the Surinamese government with high-resolution geological information, laying a solid foundation for geological studies, future exploration planning, and licensing and block-bidding activities. The survey will enhance understanding of oil and gas potential in shallow-water areas and support Suriname’s sustainable oil and gas development.
