The second "BGP CUP" competition for geophysical software development, which is set up for Chinese college students, was successfully launched on May 25th 2023. The event was jointly organized by SEG China, the Chinese Geophysical Society, the Chinese Petroleum Society, the China University of Petroleum and BGP.

Adhering to the concept of innovative development, with the theme of "building a geophysical software ecosystem", aiming to fully leverage the advantages of "industry, education and research" and promote the cultivation of young geophysical technology talents. As with the first competition last year, GeoEast-iEco will be used as the sole competitive platform. The competition provides a comprehensive platform consisting of processing, interpretation and software module development. Up to the deadline, 111 competitive teams from 20 universities have signed up.

GeoEast-iEco (Click for downloading) is an open software platform offering an integrated framework for E&P applications. It can manage petabytes of seismic datasets, support large-scale parallel computing, enable cross-domain collaboration and provide a layered opening model.
