BGP started its first offshore contract in Ghana in 2009, which at the time was the start of the oil industry in the country.

In 2017, BGP won the first onshore seismic contract from Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, and the subsequent Phase 2 contract in 2019 and Phase 3 contract in 2021.

In addition, the company also won a 4D offshore seismic project from Tullow Ghana in 2019.

By the end of 2022, BGP-BAY has successfully completed two 2D onshore seismic projects and one 4D offshore seismic project and also has a 2D onshore seismic project ongoing. By the trusts of the clients, the company has won all the contracts that it has bid for. BGP-BAY is the only geophysical exploration services company currently operating in Ghana.

Ghana had been without the onshore seismic industry for about a half century before the foundations of BGP-BAY and so the company established this industry by itself in Ghana. As a subsidiary of BGP, relying on its excellent worldwide reputation and experience, state of the art equipment, experienced expatriates and strong support from its major partner BGP Ghana and active partner Bay Logistic limited, BGP-BAY is able to undertake onshore/offshore seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation services for energy companies efficiently while being environment friendly and providing the best possible data quality.
