In 2008, BGP started business and technical communications with oil companies in Kuwait. In 2012, BGP established its office in Kuwait and successfully passed the Pre-Qualification for KOC. In 2014, BGP Kuwait won its first project – 3D seismic survey for Kuwait Bay.

In the past five years, BGP completed two mega 3D seismic survey project successfully in Kuwait, and is now working on another mega 3D seismic survey, with an industry record of ultra-channels with single digital sensor and single vibrator.

Highlights

3D seismic survey for Kuwait Bay

It was the first large–scale 3D TZ seismic survey project in Kuwait. The project covered most of the inhabited areas of Kuwait City and Kuwait Bay, including deserts, urban areas, industrial areas, shallow sea transition zones and other complex terrains. BGP Kuwait overcame a variety of operational difficulties and maintained good communication and cooperation with local government departments and clients. It achieved the record of 6.54 million man-hours without LTI.

3D Seismic Survey for West Kuwait Sub-Region

The 3D Seismic Survey for West Kuwait Sub-Region was the largest digital sensors project in the world and was carried out for KOC by BGP, in which over 230,000 channels of digital sensors were invested in for the contract. With the G3iHD recording instrument, the project was completed with high quality and efficiency, maintaining 5.38 million man-hours without an LTI. BGP Kuwait also undertook the service of seismic data processing and non-seismic acquisition, all of which passed the acceptance of the client.

3D Seismic Survey for West Kuwait and Mutriba

This project covers a wide range of sensitive and restricted zones, including military bases, oil fields, urban areas and buffer zones along borders. The project marks a key milestone in KOC’s continuous determination to achieve its 2040 strategy and goals through exploration. As usual in KOC seismic surveys, the survey is an industry record in terms of capacity with a still-considered world record of over 200,000 channels with single sensor and single vibrator. The project will be completed within the period of contract requirement.
